Hello!

I know I kind of went a bit MIA with my blogs for the past few months, but I was going through a really crazy and chaotic period of time and just couldn’t keep up with these blogs unfortunately. But I am so glad to be back! To keep off my return, here’s a recent favourite of mine and my son’s!

Bentley is a huge Star Wars fan and everything that has even a trace of baby Yoda, he will love! I also love this card, for the quick and easy design. I originally made him this card for May the fourth Day, but knowing how much of a hit it was with children, I made a few extra of these for all the birthday parties Bentley is going to! I mean, who doesn’t love baby Yoda?

I always start my projects by cutting my cardstock down to the perfect size with my paper trimmer. I purposely chose more neutral and aesthetically pleasing colours for this card, despite the original yoda having a rather dark green. I find that recently, the colours brown and green have been super trendy, in interior design, fashion, and even artwork. So that is why I chose the brown cardstock to ground the green Yoda head. I also love how the light pink and green work as complementary colours. This dynamic is harmonious and ties the whole look together. Finally, to contrast the round and curved edges of baby Yoda, I made the background with more angular and dramatic shapes. I used my “Beautiful Shapes” dies to cut out a perfect hexagon and secured baby Yoda onto the card with the Stampin’ Up! Tear & Tape Adhesive, instead of a traditional glue stick, to avoid sheer glue stains peaking out, and a stronger hold.

This card only takes a few minutes to make, but is highly customizable to whatever the card receiver enjoys. You can switch the baby Yoda out for just about anything: flowers, deers, words, or whatever else! If you want to do this, I also have some fun stamps listed below that can help bring you inspiration.
